Well I forced myself to break the block and finish one of my "bits". I have loads of Christmas "bits" that need to be turned into card but couldn't decide on what to do with them. This one is a lovely Holly Flourish stamp by Elusive Images. It can be found on the Christmas Flourish themeplate.
I made the background with Distress Inks, blending Shabby Shutters and Worn Lipstick then spritzing this with water and letting it dry. Once dry I stamped over it with a script stamp from The Artistic Stamper and more of the Shabby Shutters Distress ink then blended a little Aged Mahogany Distress ink round the edges. Next I stamped the holly flourish with Versmark and heat embossed it with Gold EP and then ran the edge of of the card round the Versmark pad and edged it with more gold EP. I can't resist sparkle so some Burgundy Stickles Glitter glue added a touch of sparkle to the holly berries. This was matted onto red foiled card and adhered to some pale green pearlescent card with foam pads. Some gold peel-off corners and a greeting finished off the card.
Wow, this is a beautiful card. I just love the what you did with the background and that stamp is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely Phree. A really effective change from 'normal' Christmas shades of red and green. I love that Holly Flourish but have been so busy using the 2008 EI Christmas stamps I neglected last years.
ReplyDeleteI think as well as vowing to make at least 1 Christmas card a month next year I also ought to promise to use a different themeplate everytime.
Oh my this is breath-taking...Leaves me speechless...OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Phree, this is just gorgeous! I love what you did with the ink and the image too. It's just gorgeous, as always. Thank you for the hyperlinks. I haven't seen these online stores before and hav saved them.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Stunning card, it looks fab Phree. The Stickles on the berries really looks good, lifts the whole thing to an even more WOW level :)
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful background you created with distress inks Phree, it makes the perfect backdrop for the lovely embossed image.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for my wonderful card Phree. You must have known that this stamp (and it's themeplate) are now at the top of my wishlist. I'll be getting it in the New Year simply because I can't wait any longer.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas.
