A Sympathy Card

What can I say, these are perhaps the hardest cards we ever have to make because we want them to say so much and yet there are no words that can be said to make things better. I tried to create a mood of calm and peace - I hope I succeeded

The stamps are all from Clarity Stamp, the technique of creating reflections with a Brayer is one I learned some time ago from Clarity's very talented owner, Barbara Gray. Ink pads were all Adirondack dye based inks from Ranger - mostly Mountain Lake which is one of the now sadly discontinued Adirondack Rainbow pads. I added some of the individual colours from that are combined in the rainbow pad around the edges of the card blank -the colours were Stream and Lettuce.

  4. Phree, this is so beautiful! It is a very serene scene, and is perfect for a sympathy card. I wonder if we have stood shoulder to shoulder watching Barbara Gray demonstrate making reflections? I've got the tree stamp, but I think I need that moon now!

  5. A very tranquil and beautiful scene and a lovely sentiment. I'm sure it will be very well received.
I have my first go at this technique the other day. It worked very well but the image I used could have been better suited.

  6. A lovely, peaceful card, Phree, which I'm sure will be much appreciated by the recipient. The colours are very soothing. That reflection technique is great, isn't it? I saw Barbara demonstrating it at Doncaster & have yet to master it. You've done it beautifully.

  8. You have it spot on with this card in all ways Phree.

It's a shame such a beautiful card is for such a sad occasion but I'm sure it will convey the message and feelings you intend to the recipient.

  11. This card really hits the spot. Very tasteful and serene. But it's not too sombre either. Much more appropriate to the occasion than many commercially produced cards.

  12. As you say the hardest cards to make but you have suceeded in creating a truly beautiful card that I'm sure will be much appreciated at such a sad time. I particularly like the sentiment as it is often hard to think what to use rather than the usual cliches.

  14. Phree that is a really beautiful card and such a good choice for a bereavement card. I was going to say reflective, but that sounds like a pun...
